This eliminates any inaccuracies that can be introduced by external motherboard circuits and sensors. This sensor is digital, which means it doesn't rely on an external circuit located on the motherboard to report temperature, its value is stored in a special register in the processor so that software can access and read it. The temperature readings are very accurate as the data is collected directly from a Digital Thermal Sensor (or DTS) which is located in each individual processing core*, near the hottest part. All of the Nano based processors are supported as well. VIA processors starting with the C7 generation of CPUs, including all the derivatives based on the C7 architecture. AMD processors starting with the first Athlon64 and Opteron processor series, all Phenom and AMD's new APU are supported. Intel processors starting with the "Core" series all the way up to the newest Core i7, including all the derivatives. It may therefore play a part in finding and fixing problems with your PC or laptop.Core Temp also has a logging feature, allowing a user to easily record the temperature of his processor(s) over any period of time, then the data can be easily transferred into an excel datasheet for easy graphing. This is not a diagnostic tool, but is a good monitoring tool you can use to test the effect of different loads on your processor. It means you can run your laptop or PC normally, add heavy loads and then test to see how it affects your processor temperatures. Its low-impact nature means that the program itself doesn't affect the temperature of your device. The tool takes very little installing and works using a tiny amount of processing power. If the base program is a little too basic, then you can alter the code, and you can extend the program with add-ons for things like a graph view or historic logs of core temperatures. The monitoring software also shows you your CPU’s stats, descriptions and versions. You are given the current temperature, the load number and the core’s maximum temperature. Each core is listed, albeit in numbered order rather than what they are called on your system. Information from the DTS is streamed to the Core Temp interface.
